Mike Piergallini joined his family at Evans, Pires & Leonard in 1999. Mike works with a variety of commercial clients providing insurance and risk management services across various industries including Construction, Auto Service, Manufacturing, Wholesale/Distribution, Environmental, and Professional Liability. Mike has experience working with both NCCI and various Insurance Carriers on “Ownership” issues (ERM-14), recalculation of Experience Modifications over multiple years, and Classification of Employee issues related to NCCI SCOPES and payroll audits to the benefit of our clients.
In addition to guaranteed cost programs, Mike helps build and implement alternative risk programs, such as Partially Self Insured and Captive Insurance Programs. This is an evolving segment of the insurance industry. Along with a client’s other trusted advisors (CPA, Attorney, Financial Advisor), Mike works with the owners of closely held businesses from feasibility and design stages, to assessing Risk Transfer Strategies, all the way through joining an existing Captive or establishing a new Captive for a specific company. Focusing on mitigating risks and claims management provides the opportunity to control insurance costs in the long term.
Mike graduated from Colby College with a Bachelors in Business, and completed a Masters degree Accounting at the University of Hartford to earn his CPA designation while working for a “Big-8” accounting firm. Mike then traveled extensively as part of the management team for two multinational companies with operations throughout North and South America and Europe. These companies had diverse operations including Engineering and Construction Management, Manufacturing, Robotics, Environmental Systems, Power Generation, Shipping and Hotels, and Residential Construction. He returned to Connecticut where he served as Controller of a paper manufacturing company before joining the agency. This diverse experience gives Mike a unique perspective as to how insurance can be used in owning and operating a Company. Mike enjoys golf, fishing and spending time outdoors with his wife Marnie and a house full of golden retrievers.
